Evaporator

Absorb heat through refrigerant evaporation in a compact finned tube bundle

Finned tube evaporator

Overview

An evaporator absorbs heat in a refrigeration or process cooling system. In a finned tube evaporator the refrigerant evaporates inside the tubes and takes heat from the air or process medium flowing across the fins. Evaporating temperature, cooling capacity and air flow determine row depth, fin spacing and surface area; low-temperature duty also requires defrost and drain design.

Features

  • Copper tube / copper fin, aluminium fin / copper tube and stainless steel options
  • Row depth and fin spacing set by evaporating temperature, capacity and air flow
  • Defrost and drain design for low-temperature duty
  • Connection positions and dimensions built to the installation envelope
  • Can be supplied with fans and frame as a complete unit

FAQ

What is the difference between an evaporator and a fin coil?
The construction is similar, but the duty is different. A fin coil uses chilled water or a low-temperature coolant to cool air. An evaporator involves refrigerant phase change and must be checked for evaporating temperature, cooling capacity, oil return and refrigerant distribution.
How is frost handled at low temperature?
Defrost and drain design must follow the evaporating temperature and operating profile. Send the operating temperature and preferred defrost method.
Can it be supplied as a unit with fans?
Yes. Fans and frame can be matched to the available space and air flow.
