Fin Coil Heat Exchanger

Fin coil units for air handling, HVAC and process cooling

Aluminium fin copper tube cooling coil

Overview

A fin coil heat exchanger is the air-side unit at the heart of an air handling system: a finned tube bundle through which air is drawn, with chilled water, hot water or steam inside the tubes. The design is driven by face area and row depth rather than by tube diameter alone, because the face velocity sets whether condensate is carried off the coil or entrained back into the air stream.

Features

  • Cooling coils for chilled water and low-temperature water
  • Heating coils for steam and hot water
  • Copper tube with corrosion-protected aluminium fins as standard
  • Stainless steel coils for cleanroom and hygienic duty
  • Drain pans and condensate connections for dehumidifying duty
  • Coil casing and connection positions built to the air handling unit

FAQ

What is the difference between a fin coil and an air cooler?
A fin coil cools the air itself and is normally part of an air handling system; when the air is cooled below its dew point it condenses water, so a drain pan is required. An air cooler uses ambient air to cool a process fluid inside the tubes instead. Same construction family, opposite duty.
Do you supply stainless steel cooling coils?
Yes. Stainless steel coils are used in cleanrooms, pharmaceutical and food applications where cleanliness and corrosion resistance matter. Copper tube with protected aluminium fins remains the standard for general HVAC duty.
How is face area decided?
Face area follows from the air volume flow and the face velocity you can tolerate. Face velocity drives condensate carry-over risk on cooling coils and noise on both. Once the face area is set, the number of rows is chosen to reach the required leaving air condition.
Can the coil be built to fit an existing AHU?
Yes. Send the casing dimensions, the duct connection positions and the available space for the coil and drain pan, and we build to those constraints.
