Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger

A robust, adaptable exchanger for pressure-bearing industrial duties

Shell and tube heat exchanger

Overview

The shell and tube heat exchanger is one of the most widely used exchanger types. The tube side and shell side can be designed independently for the medium, temperature, pressure and flow, giving a large surface area in a reliable pressure-bearing envelope. We manufacture fixed tubesheet, floating head and U-tube designs and can build for pressurized duty.

Features

  • Simple, reliable construction with a wide temperature and pressure range
  • Tube side and shell side materials selected separately
  • Fixed tubesheet, floating head and U-tube configurations
  • Pressure-bearing fabrication and inspection
  • Easy cleaning and maintenance, with long-term spare parts support

FAQ

Are shell and tube and tubular heat exchangers the same?
They are different names for the same equipment family. The design method and standards are the same.
How do I choose between fixed tubesheet, floating head and U-tube?
Use floating head or U-tube when the temperature difference is large or the bundle needs to be withdrawn for cleaning. Use fixed tubesheet when the temperature difference is small and cost is the priority.
Can atmospheric units be exported?
Yes. Atmospheric units fall outside pressure vessel regulation in many markets, which simplifies export documentation. We have delivered an atmospheric shell and tube unit to Italy.
