A condenser rejects heat from a condensing gas so that it leaves as a liquid. In a finned tube condenser the gas condenses inside the tubes and air flowing across the fins carries the heat away.
What drives the design
- Condensing temperature and heat load
- Air flow and allowable air-side pressure drop
- Tube and fin material compatibility with the medium
- Available space and connection positions
- Fan and frame arrangement for a complete unit
Phase change is not a fin coil duty
Condensation is a phase-change process. The design has to use the medium properties at the condensing condition and cannot simply copy a chilled water coil selection. Tube circuit, pressure drop and liquid drainage also matter.
Materials
Copper tube with copper or aluminium fins is common for refrigerant duty. Stainless steel may be required for corrosive process gas or hygienic applications. The air side and tube side can use different materials.
Mazelu builds condensers for refrigeration, process gas and packaged equipment, with fans and frames where required.
