Industrial processes reject large amounts of heat through exhaust gas. A waste heat recovery heat exchanger turns part of that heat into a usable medium, reducing energy cost and emissions.

Recovery options

  • Flue gas to water for hot water supply
  • Flue gas to air for drying or combustion air
  • Flue gas to steam generation
  • Process gas cooling with heat recovery

Design for the real conditions

Recovery efficiency alone is not enough. The cold-end wall temperature must stay above the acid dew point where possible, and the fin spacing must suit the dust loading. If the recovered heat has no stable use, the project will not pay back.

Industries

Waste heat recovery is used in steel, chemical, power, building materials, drying and metallurgical plants. The heat exchanger may be a finned tube bundle, a shell and tube unit or a combination with an air preheater.

Mazelu calculates recoverable heat, checks corrosion and fouling, and provides a payback estimate before the project proceeds.
